The Author Ron Hutchinson is a winner of the George Devine and John Whiting new writing awards and Royal Shakespeare Theatre Writer in Residence in 1980-81. His latest theatre work includes a 1995 revival of Rat in the Skull (Royal Court Theatre at the Duke of York's), in 1998, an adaptation of Mihail Bulgakov’s Flight at the Royal National Theatre in 2000, Burning Issues at the Hampstead Theatre Club, also in 2000, Beyond Beauty a play for youth theatre at the Playbox Theatre. His play Lags first produced in 2001 at The Tobacco Factory, Bristol, won great acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, 2002. Transferring to The Latchmere, London it was described as ‘provoking, occasionally shocking and always totally engaging’, a description which is also very apt for An Elegant Madness..
An Emmy winning screenwriter, he lives in Los Angeles where he works in television and feature films.
